Anyone know if there are inkjet printers out there that know when they are out of ink, and just don't print until they get ink?
I looked at a student's printer the other day which wasn't printing. It was correctly hooked up and the OS (XP) had no printer errors. All jobs in the que were just waiting, no errors. The printer had a red light blinking; when I looked at her black ink cartridge it was empty, or nearly empty. So I told her to get a new one and see what happens.
What I'm curious about is why the printer wasn't just spitting out a blank page like most inkjets do? This was a new printer, looked like it was not a cheapo. I can't remember the brand, but it was not HP, and I don't think Lexmark.
Thanks...
