I need this for restoring a tape that arcserve messed up headers on. Error 3801.

Thanks

you can download Backup Exec 9.1 and 10.1 from support.veritas.com and run it in eval for 60 days.

Keep in mind there are some limiation readin Arcserve tapes. If software compression was used in arcserve then Backup Exec or NTbacku is of no use to you.

I don't see any place to download backup exec 9. All I see is server editions and no place to download. Am I missing something.

Also, no compression was used at all on backups.

Thanks!!!

I would use 10.x

When you install it you will be prompted for serial number, just click next and it will inform you that you will be entering into eval mode

9.1

What does the arcserve error above translate to?
I would assume if arcserve cant read it why would another program be able to catalog/restore it?

Media from the following products can be restored with Backup Exec 7.3, 8.x, and 9.x.

Make sure you download the latest drivers from Veritas which ever version you choose

Thanks so much for the links! I'm going to try to download now.

I read in another forum on this site that by restoring from Backup Exec, people were able to get data from tapes backed up in ArcServe that would no longer restore sessions 2-4. Evidently Backup Exec does not read headers in the cataloging process?? We'll see if it works.

I can do the SCAN function in Arcserve and it sees and reports all 4 sessions on the tape as being there. However, when doing MERGE or RESTORE Arcserve reports not being able to find sessions. From reading the forums this seems to be a pretty common problem with Arcserve.

Thanks!!!
