Sarcasm, it's only one of the services I offer.

You could try this one, you need to register and then you get a licence for 20 years or so..:-)

tlpeter,

What are you trying to do w/ SNMP?

Ed

Play with it.
The mentioned HP and casstle rock (on the knowledgebase) are very expensive.
I try to find a free one who works nice (enough) with the ipo.

I have seen that one.
But it is only for 10 devices.
I have found another one.

Hi Peter,

This might interest you.

I have not used it myself, but I have heard good things about it. It's not free, but not too pricey either and flexible licencing. Even has an Iphone app.

Happy monitoring :-)

I was configuring an IPO running 6.0.18 and I also saw you can send messages to syslog. I am not sure if you know about syslog but it is essentially a file that sits on a server and the server listens for messages on UDP port 514. You would then point devices (e.g. the IPO or a firewal) to that server for syslog messages. You could then (with certain software) notify based on events in the syslog.

Check out Solar Winds and search for Kiwi Syslog. It is a free download.

HTH,
Ed

Hi Ed,
yes I know about syslog.
I am just playing with it because I am curious about it.
SNMP is hardly used I think.

tlpeter,

I work with tools that do SNMP monitoring that are really expensive. As part of our service offering, we are offering smaller chunks of the technology to other companies.

E-mail me if you are interested in learning more.

Hi Ed,

It is just curiosity and nothing more.
I just wanted to know how it works and what the tools do.
I have no need for a payed solution even when it is very good for a nice price :-)

tlpeter,

No problem. The reason I brought it up is because it made me think of a webinar I am planning with Tigerpaw in 2011. Tigerpaw is a PSA (run your business product.)

It will cover how telecom companies can utilize managed service to support and earn recurring revenue for monitoring devices such as phone systems. SNMP and Syslog are critical for doing this.

<end of shameless plug>
Have you found the MIBs for the IPO?

Yes i know where the MIB's are but those are made by HP and casstlerock.
I found a free tool where you can import MIB's but most are not imported.
