Anyone done an "Instant ISM" in LD 143 to add PBX features? 1

I have to add a keycode to the PBX to add Ran and Mus ports. It says you do it in LD 143. Does it work smoothly?

Also, we ordered an upgrade of 64 ports 3 months ago and never upgraded, and now we ordered 64 more ports, so we were issued a 2nd set of keycodes.

Should I go right to the latest keycode, or install both the old, then the new keycode?

I have an 81c 3.0. The ports part is not important, I was mainly wondering about it the "Instant ISM" in LD 143. It says you don't have to re-load after the ISM upgrade, so I wondered if that goes smoothly, also Can I install the latest keycode alone or do I have to install the old one first, before I install the new one.

You should have also gotten a keycode sheet - check it with your current packages make sure you are not missing anything.

use your latest one. Put in active core

since you are changing TNs system will require a reload to activate. Built your Music broadcast before reload.

On the 81, I have to disagree (honorably) with Reusser. I added 40 Digital set licenses (TN's) using the 143 "Instant ISM" to my 81C about 6 weeks ago without a hitch. Did it in the middle of the day without so much as a hiccup. I would recommend adding the first keycodes before the second, since they add on to each other, although it may not be needed.

I would have no problem doing it again, and we plan to do it as a keycode ship every time we do this.

Works great without issues.

TN upgrades no longer require a sysload. Just did one the other day and it took about 60 seconds to load. I would go through the Testing portion to make sure everything is ok when you are done.

I did one about 2 months ago and actually did the whole split mode yada yada deal and then realized that I didn't need to do.

If you requested TN's before and then got more. Load the original order first then the new one. That is what happened with this last upgrade I did. They put in an order for Succession upgrade then ran out of TN's. Couldn't generate more TN's since Configurator showed the system as a Succession switch. Nortel had to go in and fix Configurator and reissue the TN upgrade. They would not send on a disk, or send a certificate, since (they said) it was not a Succession switch. I don't believe this, but the file they emailed worked just fine.

If you are lucky enough to get a certificate with your keycode/ISM upgrade, look on the bottom it will tell you if you need to sysload.

Well I found another wrinkle, The two keycodes I have are not adding any features, just ISM's, But my first certificate has the message saying I don't need to sysload, the second one does not have this message. I believe both upgrades fall into the guidelines of "instant ISM". What do you make of that?

Load the first one. then check the new one against what is in there. If you do a kdif rec f0 (if core 0 is the active core, or if you have CPII processors) then you will see the difference in the keycodes/ism's.

If it is only a TN expansion you won't need to sysload. Maybe they are saving on ink. If you needed to sysload, you would see that on the cert, or when you try to load.

I loaded the older ISM upgrade disk first, then did an EDD and then the second disk and did another EDD. Both ISM upgrades loaded "Instantly" and both upgrades said that a Sysload was not needed.

1) Log in on a system terminal and load LD 143.

Sysload is not needed!
This means that the new keycode is eligible for instant activation and no further user action is required. Go to steps 6 and 7.

CCBR009 New Keycode accepted. New ISM limits and feature
packages will be activated during the next Sysload (Cold Restart).

6) Load LD 22 and confirm that the new ISM parameters have been
updated.

For Small Systems, perform the following to instantly activate a keycode without a Sysload:

21) In response to the prompt “Are you sure you wish to perform the
upgrade?”, enter y.

If the new keycodes correct for instant activation, it will be activated without further user action, and the following message is given:
Upgrade was completed and activated successfully.
Sysload is NOT needed!

If the keycode is not eligible for instant activation, a Sysload is needed to activate the new keycode and the following message is given:
Upgrade was completed successfully.
Initiate a Sysload to activate the upgrade.
