help -> about from the client itself. Would be helpful if that could be done from the CMS server but I've never seen anything like that.

Your software administrators should be able to go look at the user and their PC to see what version they have loaded.

phoneguy55 - Yes the user can tell us, but unfortunately previous administration of the CMS system did not fill in the first last name of the users and didn't consistently use AD Logins for the user logins, so knowing who to contact and ask is lacking.

Wanebo - Yes, yes they should be able to provide us a list of who has it, but unfortunately we were having challenges with this.

In the long run, we went ahead with our upgrade and anyone who doesn't have the latest version will have to call in a help desk ticket. I just didn't know of anyway in CMS if the system would indicate what version they were using when they were logged in. I know it was a long shot, but sometimes you never know if someone has that little nugget of gold in their chest....

your approach is good. Thats how I do it. Notify all users that you need version X in order to connect to new server and here is where you get it.

phoneguy55 - Unfortunately, they cannot load the software, it has to be distributed through our software deployment.
