Hello Tekies,

I have two computers. One at the office and one at home. Both have Windows XP; Access2000 and Fireworks installed on them. I designed some graphics for some of my forms in Fireworks and saved them with a .png extension. The computer at home see's them with no problems. The computer at the office does not. I have researched a ton, trying to find out why. I've tried all sorts of things, trying to get it to work but it just won't see it. Do I have to do something in Access that allows it to see a .png extension?

TIA,
Shane

P.S. I do know that .bmp; .gif and several others to work but this is like a mission now, just want to know why it works on one and not the other.

Hey obli,

Yea, I found that site also, but the strange thing is, my computer at my house allows me to see the images with a .png extension. Since it has the same set up as my office computer does, then I figured there must be a logical explanation as to why one works and the other doesn't.

When you install Access (or all of Office), one of the options you have is what image support you want. I would guess that at home, the install process was done in such a way that .png was one of the image support options choosen, but at the office (did someone else install it?) .png was not selected. You can run the Access (or Office) Setup.exe program again to change your options. If you can't find anything for the .png option, I'd suggest you just select the "All" option for graphics.

Thanks for the reply Vic,

I did do the "All" option and it let me see my .png extensions but when I tried to choose it for the picture for the image, Access fired a message stating it did not support it. As far as the install. No, I didn't install it at the office so that could be why it's missing. However, I do have a problem. Someone here cracked disk2 and when I called Microsoft to ask if I could replace it, I was told they don't support A2000 any longer so I could not get another copy. Sounds like I may have to just settle for .bmp It's kind of too bad cause .png has a brighter, cleaner look but at the same time would cause problems because of Access loading everything .bmp and then converting it. That causes a little bit of a flash showing the image load dialog.

Thanks again,
Shane
