I have been asked by local venture capital firm needing Nortel BCS full IP bandwidth on 2 oil rigs 150 miles out to sea wanting to connect via satellite to regional office in states on Meridian IP based system. Does anybody have any recommendations on satellite transmission uplink downlink.

Well it shouldn't matter if it is satellite or ATM, Frame.... You need bandwidth and use a CODEC's that will meet your required number of connections and QOS. If they already have data connected to the rigs they should or maybe be able to carve out some bandwidth for voice.
How much bandwidth they can afford to give you will help you determine the number of voice connections you can have with an expectable QOS. Now if voice and QOS is a priority then ask for the band with what YOU need from the data network.
