Any problem doing SFC after update to SP-1?

You will have to make sure that your Dll Cache folder is full size with an up to date compliment of system files. This is the first place SFC looks for replacement files, rather than the CD, which eventaully will become out of date.

I can only guess at an answer to this one. Are you using XP Home or Pro?
If you do not have all the required system files that microsoft deems necessary (even though they are for software or hardware you are not using, and are not even included on the XP CD), when you run SFC it will look for them, including on the CD.
One example of this I know about, is an update for AMD and Duron processors where SFC checks for a file called "Amdk7" even though you may have nothing to do with AMD.
"The system file c:\windows\system32\drivers\amdk7.sys could not be copied into the DLL cache. The specific error code is 0x00000000 [The operation completed successfully.]. This file is necessary to maintain system stability."
If you check your Event Viewer after running SFC you will see what files it is looking for. If it can't find a file it is always going to want to check your CD.

Thankyou for your input. I have run SFC /scannow after updating to SP-1(Pro). It found nothing wrong. Prior to the update it needed the CD for several files everytime I ran SFC. I never could figure that out but now it works as advertized.. Thanks again!

Do you have an i386 folder on the same drive Windows is installed on? That folder is the similar to the .cabs used by Win9x and is copied there during initial installation of WinXP, but there is a prompt to do it or not do it. It also looks to be the same as the i386 folder on the XP CD.
