Hi,
Has any body here used Crystal report with Btrieve (Pervasive) data ??

I have checked to the docs, we have to create the DDFs files as the 'bridge' between Crystal and the Btrieve data.

As I know, creating DDFs files is very time consuming and tedious where we have to map every field to corresponding DDF field, is there any tool that will automatically do that ?

Thanks in advance,
Krist

Hi, Krist

I have been used Crystal Report with Btrieve/Pervasive data for long time.

Crystal Report requires FILE.DDF, FILED.DDF and INDEX.DDF to access Btrieve data.

I am not sure if there is any tools can build these three files easily. It may come with your database application.

Hope this can help!

Hi Kan,

What version of Btrieve/Pervasive do you use ?

And for complicated report that need preprocessed data before being used by Crystal, how do you do the processing ?

As in SQL database, e.g:MSSQL, We can use SP that is then used by Crystal as datasource.

Thanks,
Krist

Hi Krist

I used Btrieve 6.15 and Pervasive SQL 2000, Crystal report can open both versions database definiton file.

PSQL 2000 provided stored procedures and view. But I haven't use these functions before. In complicated report, I may use subreport.

Hi,
There is a product called DDF Maker with which you can create the DDF files.

Good luck

Are you using great plains. They have an odbc called faircom. My experience with great plains and faircom is that you spend more time fixing error messages than actually writing reports.

Good Luck
