hey folks!.....i need your advise here. Here is my situation. I have an NT 4 server box running my DHCP server. I just got a new dell box running windows 2003 server that will be my new DHCP. I have about 300 workstations currently leasing IP from my current DHCP server(NT 4). My question is how can i get the new DHCP online, the current DHCP offline without having an IP mess. My concern is that new server once online may lease an IP currenly in use. Is it possible to copy the DHCP database from the current server to the new server?

All info greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can. Since the current dhcp server is nt, make sure you don't start the dhcp service on the new box as it won't recognize the old box and you will have a rogue dhcp server. Stop the service on the nt box, copy the database to the dhcp folder then on the new box start the service. Make sure the new box has a static ip.
