Hey All!

Question every time i boot up my XP laptop Norton Antivirus 2005 dialog box appears saying preparing to install with the cancel option not greyed, this software is already on the laptop and active. I cancel out, it say unable to install removed or repair and reinstall? Im confused on this and the laptop is working ,the virus software as i have mentioned is working

Perhaps some part of the Norton program is not installed and it just trying to complete the installation?

I saw a brief mention on the web that the Real Time protection module may be attempting to install and causing this message.

The manual scanning may be working when you run it but are all the other modules (things like Real Time protection, E-mail scanning, and whatever else Norton includes) working?

What happens if you allow this install?

Thanks for the response! it does not let allow to click ok & proceed with install, on my tray the Norton is active !

Do you want to try turning off Norton, then uninstalling it completely, then after any necessary reboot, re-installing it to see if that fixes it?

Have you been in contact with their support to see if they can help?
