Hi there,

Assume I got a stand-alone W2K3 server running SPS2003,
wondering if SAVCE is good enough for this server? Then should I avoid SAVCE scanning MSDE data directories?

Or do I need some other AV solution specified for SPS2003?

Many thanks!

All good questions! I didn't think of including any exceptions to the on-access scanning by VirusScan Enterprise. But now that I think about it, there definately should be files/dictories that should be excluded! Anyone hazard a 'good practices' guess what they are?

Come on, some one must have an experience with this????

the average antivirus soft will just do fine:

from my experience I exclude the folders which contain database files, transaction logs, snapshot files, or other similar files that are unlikely to be infected (and which would entail significant performance penalties if frequently scanned)
