Hi all, I'm new to this forum but it looks really good. Hope you can help.

I am just in the process of getting a dedicated Win 2003 Web Server with IIS6. I am just after some opinions on Antivirus protection.

Is antivirus software really necessary on a Web server? What package would you recommend for above setup? If I don't want to fork out the money for a physical firewall is a software firewall worth it for above setup?

Any opinions much appreciated.

Keir

Actually you should think at the same time you buy the Web server on bying the antivirus for it. It is very important for a web server to have Antivirus.
I would recommend Norton or McAfee products.
If your server is really important to you as well as the information it contains, you should invest in a hardware firewall. NOw if you will be only playing with the serve to learn, and not really have impoart things on it, then you could switch to a software firewall like Zonealarm Pro , or other similar.

Oh yeah, I won't go live with the server until antivirus on there.

You suggest Norton or McAfee. Can you be more specific as I go on their sites and it's so confusing with the number of products. All I use my server for is hosting multiple websites. I just want general protection against viruses. What ACTUAL product do you suggest?
