Hi everyone,

Didn't know where to post this question so decided the operating system group was most appropriate. Hope someone can help.

On a cold start of my pc my Norton Anti-virus Pro loads first but the icon that appears in the start-up tray goes through a couple of stages instead of starting clean with the norton logo.

First, the NAV icon appears with a round yellow question mark superimposed over it. I thought the question mark indicated some sort of interrupt conflict?

Second, the question mark goes away and the NAV icon shows with a thin red circle and diagonal line through it. That indicates that it's turned off, right?

Third, the red line disappears and presumably NAV is finally up and running.

All this occurs while other applications continue to load in the startup tray.

Question: Is this sequence of NAV loading OK or is something wrong? Do I need to reinstall either Windows XP or Norton AV Pro?

Thanks for any assistance and insight you can offer.

Howdy:

Nope.. Both the Norton I have on my home system and the one on my work system go through the exact same steps/stages.. Normal operating procedure !!

It's been my experience that nortons takes quite a while to load in XP.
I would suggerst that you try an anti-virus like Bit defender pro 7.2!
It's much smaller then nortons, doesn't take up much in resources and works just as well as nortons if not BETTER!
