Doctors offices subscribe to answering svc. for after hours calls. How does this work? How does the service know how to greet each caller? What type of trunking do they have?Does info pop up on pc screen? What type of equipment does this?
Is there still room for more business like this or is the market flooded?

the market in almost any area has room for a good service product, find out what the customers don't like about their ana service and improve it.. the equiptment depends on a lot of diff things, they used to be old operator type boards, now any system that can use did's will work. you assign a did number to each customer, the operator sees the dialed number and knows the customer name to answer with. a simple 2616 with an add on mod or 2 could have a scr key for each of 40+ customers..

Most of the people i talked with fwd their own # to an 888#.Can you buy 888's in blocks like DID's? Is Symposium made for this type of application? Thank you for your response. Not sure where to start or look for info on starting.

Yes, the toll free numbers are available from a number of service providers. First you'll need an idea of scale. Are you planning to answer 10 phones or 10,000? The answer will control how many circuits from telco you'll need, and will likely be a large factor in the price you pay for the service. Symposium is an excellent product but might be too expensive for a smaller operation. You also will be jumping into the same labor and other issues as any other 24/7/365 operation so don't forget to give that some thought.

Symposium, not really an acd design, would work very well for that purpose. cost would be a factor, as well as script upkeep, needing a new entry per customer.. the 888 service is great if your going national or statewide. most in this area just use local did's..
