I've recently changed the hard drive in my pc from one with Win2000 to one with Win98. It updated almost everything perfectly, except obviously the color depth and resolution problem. On my old hard drive my monitor and card worked fine and had all the resolutions available. But now I only have 16 colors (not even black and white, not as though I really wanted it) and 640x480, with nothing else to select from. I deleted the video adapter a few times and it always updated to the same one. I got one from another post here about a similar problem, but that still didn't work. I downloaded AIDA32 to get my system info, so I can get more if needed. Please help, Thanks in advance!

Time to change the driver thru control panel, display.

It has been a while on S3 but if I recall you add the drivers to the driver set and change to it in the update section.

Thanks for responding so quickly...
If I'm understanding you correctly though, you're saying update the driver, which is what I've done. I know the card may be an older one, and therefor a little harder to remember/troubleshoot. But, as I said, if I'm understanding correctly, I've done that and it didn't work.

At the point where you change the display type there should be a whole series of S3 cards if the drivers have installed correctly.

Try a google search for the card, you should get a hit on the manufacturer's site and download from there. And you should get a hit from windrivers.com and one other.

I'll dig into my stuff tomorrow and see if I can find some drivers or some info.

Thank you in advance, I'll search for them also. I didn't know there should be more than one. Thanks again for all of your assistance.

WOW, I almost forgot how a pc was supposed to look. I got the correct drivers (after trying 4 others) from s3graphics.com. It's working great. Thanks for your help, I was starting to think I was never gonna get it fixed. Thanks again!
