I have an extra hard drive mounted to my Red Hat 8 OS and I would like to set up an FTP off of that. Everyone will access this through MS internet explorer and the user will be anonymous, does anyone know how to change the default anonymous directory from /var/ftp to /Stuff

any help would be greatly appreciated.

It "should" be as simple as changing the entry in the /etc/passwd file, this is what it presently looks like:

ftp:x:14:50:FTP User:/var/ftp:/sbin/nologin

Change it to:

ftp:x:14:50:FTP User:/Stuff:/sbin/nologin

You should copy all the subdirectories and commands as found in /var/ftp to /Stuff else the commands like "ls" etc won't work.

Thank you very much, worked like a charm!
