Anomaly with 5xp and wireless router

I have a 5xp and use NetScreen 8 to to make VPN connections. I configured one of our users who connects through a cable modem connected to a Lynksys wireless router/firewall (model BEFW11S4 v.2). When I connected the computer to one of the router's ethernet ports I could tunnel into the remote network without a problem. When I tried to make the wireless connection, however, I could not maintain a VPN connection: I would receive the logon dialog box and confimation of a successful logon, but it would automatically disconnect the user without any notification. Does this seem to be a problem that can be addressed by configuring the 5xp or is it more likely an issue with the wireless reouter?
