Hi,
I have had some announcements sent from a 3rd party which I cannot upload on Val manager. I have had them sent previously but now get the following error message...

Tue Jul 27 12:03:00 BST 2004 **Task: Copy Announcement Files, Task ID: 3** Failed to copy test.wav from VAL board Bradford:01C14. The audio file

C:\Documents and Settings\HEPPENL\Desktop\test.wav
has the wrong companding mode for the switch.
The file is A-Law and the switch is .

The wav file has the following settings..
· CCITT A-Law or CCITT m-Law companding format (do not use PCM)

· 8KHz sample rate

· 8-bit resolution (bits per sample)

· Mono (channels = 1)

Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks

Lee

You prob need to convert your announcements to the right format. I have my announcements recorded professionally and emailed to me. Before I can move them onto the val I go to sound recorder and convert to ccti u-law. Once you do this you should be able to upload.

Thanks - but they are already in the correct a-law format? Wondering if the problem lies with the VAl board and not the announcements?

A law is incorrect. You need to place it in mu-law.

I have tried both, the mu-law gives me the following message...
Tue Jul 27 13:43:04 BST 2004 **Task: Copy Announcement Files, Task ID: 7** Failed to copy recording.wav from VAL board Bradford:01C14. The audio file
C:\Documents and Settings\HEPPENL\Desktop\recording.wav
has the wrong companding mode for the switch.
The file is Mu-Law and the switch is .

These are the settings you should have

CCITT u-Law 8.000 kHz, 8 Bit, Mono

Try these.

Hi,
Have tried all formats that have been requested but still no joy. Any other thoughts?

Thanks

If you want to try and send me a copy of one of your announcments I can see if i can format it to work.

I'm in the UK. My settings are:
CCITT A-Law 8.000 kHz, 8 Bit, Mono.

thanks g3rguy, that would be helpful. How can I get your email address?

are you running CM2 by any chance? if so you will need to ensure you have "integrated management" software rather than "visability management"

I had this problem after upgrading to CM2, because the "ip-interfaces" command changes, amongst others and the older VAL manger does not recognise the new commands.

Hi all !

I have the same problem !
I have an G700 with S8300 with CM 2.1.1 and VAL Manager 2.0.8. Any idea? Have you solved the problem already?

thanks !

You need IM V 2.1 or it wont work. There is a previous thread on this. I have the same problem and am waiting for a copy of 2.1
Tyke UK. Are you sure when you right click the file, its showing the correct format. How are you converting it? if you are using Windows Sound Recorder, make sure you click save when you have converted it. Also, make sure your switch is set to A-Law. I know this is obvious, but I had a customer who had a switch that was set to Mu-Law and tried to upload the announcments and got a similar failure.

i have exactly the same problems, already logged with AVAYA but not yet solved. I am using the right format as I can download files from the board, if I want to upload the exact same file, it give the error message as shown above.
it is also not a problem of the AIM- Version as it did work before, we just installed some patches on the S8700, maybe this caused the problem.

One workaround: You ca upload the files manually via FTP, you need to enabled the Filesystem of the VALBoard, then upload the WAV-file into the root directory of the board, then you can use the VAL- Manager to assign it to an announcement.

Regards,

Frank

UPDATE:
I have just upgraded to AIM 2.1.11, this contains VAL- Manager 2.1.7, and now all is fine, i can copy from and to the VAL- boards again without the above error message.

Regards, Frank

I needed to upgrade and use the Integrated Management suite. I currently run v2.0.8 and everything works fine.
