Here's the situation. Have an S8500 running 2.1 with latest updates loaded and running.

When we dial into a switch from an analog station, for some reason after about 60 seconds, we get timmed out and kicked off. We've tried from various extensions, with various computers and have even taken one of the laptops off site, used the same connection information and connected successfully for 10 minutes.

Additionally we've routed the calls out of our PRI (the primary way they would go), then we pushed the calls out over our copper lines (fallback for the PRI) to eleminate the PRI being the issue.

We can dial into some systems, but it seems the Definity line systems are the biggest problems for us, along with some other small network connections.

Any suggestions on where to dig to figure this one out? Has me confused.

What do you have for a layout? I'm curious if you're grabbing a trunk from the same port network you are in?
If you have an S8500 and it is set up as an IP connect lets say, it will matter where you place you're call from in regards to troubleshooting this one.

The setup is pretty simple. We do have an S8300 connected to our site via an IP trunk, but we have varrified the calls are going out the local PRI/copper based on ARS patterns and viewing the trunks when the calls are placed.

Additional information, we pulled one of our copper lines out of the swith and put it directly into an office for one of the modems and it worked with no problems.

Is it just one S8300/G700? I'm trying to figure out if you're crossing over the IP trunk or between gateways when you try to establish these calls. Could you let me know if you are. We need to make sure you're running 2.1.1 and configure the codec sets properly to get the modem over IP calls to work.

Check you have set your sync source on the switch, we had the same problem on our S8300.
Regards
Alan

Thanks alanpye, that appears to have been the problem. When our PM setup the switch, he remembered to enable the sync, but didn't put in a source. Put in the primary source, disabled/enabled and it appears to have resolved our problem.

Also, thanks ph0neguy for your assistance as well!
