Hello all,
In my company we have a total of 12 analog boards, but we have upgraded many of our phones to digital and IP.For the total number of analog lines we have we only needs 5 boards, so I'm trying to consolidate moving all the ports to these five boards.
I've been able to clear 7 analog boards but in 3 of them we have a port for Audix, that if I'm not mistaken acts as a part of a queue when people checks their voicemails.
Can anyone please explain to me what these ports do and if it's possible to move them? Are these ports also being used by the digital and IP phones or do they use a different type of port?
Thanks for any direction you can give me, I'm in the process of learning the system.

they are split up for reliability, probably 4 ports per card, which is AVAYA's recomended way to set it up.

Yes, those are the interface from the Audix to the phone switch. You can move them around, but AVAYA doesn't recomend more than about 4 ports per card (because of ring generator simultaneous ringing limitations).

All voicemail messages use these ports, it doesn't matter wha type of phone you have (digital, analog, or IP)

Thanks Mitch for the information.
When I called the extension assigned to that port rings three times then goes to the Audix message, but when I move it to a different port it keeps ringing and never goes to Audix. am I missing something?

you need to do a "list station" on your switch, and find the 12 extensions that are assigned to the the audix, and re-assign the ports. You can't just move the audix port around, without telling the switch where you moved it to.

You can also find out what extension #'s are being used by doing a "list hunt", one of them will be your "audix" hunt group, do a "display hunt x" (where x is the group #), the 12 extensions used for the VM will show up in this hunt e group. then just do the "list station", and you will be able to re-assign the ports as you move the ports around.
