Hi All

I think I have problems with an analog port, I think it is damaged but I don't know the reason. if I assign that port to an extension no matter what number, when I try to make a call, I just hear a lot of noise, it is similar when you turn on the TV and you select a channel without signal. I made a List trace Station, and I receive constantly this:
time data
16:46:22 active station 9159 cid 0x151a
16:46:22 idle station 9159 cid 0x151a
16:46:22 tone-receiver 01AXX08 cid 0x151b
16:46:22 active station 9159 cid 0x151b
16:46:22 idle station 9159 cid 0x151b
16:46:22 tone-receiver 01C0206 cid 0x151c
16:46:22 active station 9159 cid 0x151c
16:46:23 idle station 9159 cid 0x151c
16:46:23 tone-receiver 01AXX01 cid 0x151d
16:46:23 active station 9159 cid 0x151d
16:46:24 idle station 9159 cid 0x151d

If I test the extension or the port I don't receive an error message, but not matter where I wire the line or what number of extension I assign to that port, the result is the same.

How can I know if it really is a port issue? And the most important thing, why it happened

Thanks in advance

Its not that uncommon to have one port bad on a pack. Thats why the marked port command is available. You can try to trace this back if you want. I have used an amphenal cable to the backplane of the carrier and cut off one end and fan out the cable by pairs. Then with a buttset trace the problem back to my frame with the 66 block connections. Some you will find, its just the port thats bad on the circuit pack. In your system do a "mark port xxxxxx". This will keep you from trying to reassign it.

Oh thank you very much Mike, It's a little dificult to me to do that at this moment, but I'm going to consider it and in the first oportunity I'll make the test.

Do you know where can I get documentation about how to detect an solve telephony issues (How to interpret error messages and alarms, how to do mainntenance, etc)?, I have some manuals but not all is covered, and sometimes I have to solve problems and I just don't know how to do it.

thank you again

Your best bet would be to go to the Avaya website and download the CD library for the version of software you are running in your system. This covers about all the bases.
