Hi Everyone,

A new CM5 went into one of our sites(why they chose 5 over 4 I'll never understand) but now that its in and working, we are having some problems with analog lines. fax transmissions are not working, and if you even try to just answer a call on an analiog phone there can be as much as a 10 second delay before you can talk. Any one else getting this?

We have the 24 port analog boards in the gateway....

Thanks!!!

make sure your ip-codec is set to pass-through (on the second page)

IP Codec Set

Allow Direct-IP Multimedia? n

Mode Redundancy
FAX pass-through 0
Modem pass-through 0
TDD/TTY US 3
Clear-channel n 0

Thank you for the reply - my setting matches yours exactly for codec set 1.

how can I tell if I need to make modifications to the other codec sets - how do I know if the other s are in use?

Thanks!!

li ip-network-region monitor...

That will tell you all Ip-network regions and which codec set that each region uses.

Hi,

thanks, it is codec set 1 used. So the codec must be correct since it matched immike's. any other ideas why analog and faxes are delayed?

Is CM 5 glitchy? we have probles with the IA770 too now. sometimes it stops transferring calls and we have to do a stop/start. Other times its fine.

Anyone else like this?

Thanks!!!!

since you said IA770, that implies you have an S8300 or an S8400. Are you sure your firmware on either your TN circuit packs, or your MM circuit packs is up to date? and, if you are using an S8300, wich media gateway are you using? There is new firmware for all of them (G250, G350, G450 and G700) for CM5.

I would suspect something is not up to date, we have installed at least 6 or 7 CM5 S8300 systems (mostly with G350's and G450's) and not had a problem...

Also, you do have the CM5 IA770 Audix patch, correct? there i also a CM5 patch as well. The CM5 patch is difficult to get, becuse you have to get it from the download center, your switch needs to be final registered, and then the Sold TO # needs to be associated to you, so you can get the CM5 patch... they must have have a maint. agreement in place as well. Needless to say, it took us a while to be able to even downbload the current CM5 patch...

Hi Mitch672,

My firmware on the cards is:

ICC MM: HW02 FW004
ANA MM : MM716 HW03 FW0089
DS1 MM : MM710 HW11 FW044

Do you think these are okay? I assumed the BP put the right patches and firmware on, but you are right I guess I need to check... Do you know the numbers for the 2 patches you mentioned by chance?

Thanks!!!!

You firmware is up to date and current, hwo about the media gateway firmware? (do a "list media", the version will show up there..) for a G350 current is: g350_sw_27_27_0.bin (although there is a beta version of 27_27_10, for issues with MM314/MM316's), for the G450 it is: g450_sw_27_27_0.bin, and the for the G700 it is: mgp_27_29_0.bin

The CM5.0 patches are: 00.0.825.4-15467.tar.gz for the CM patch, PLAT-rhel4-1000.tar.gz is the linux platform security patch, and A6109rf+a.rpm is the IA770 patch for the IA770 on CM5.0

It doesnt say anything about the IA770 version....

Thanks!!

by the way, where are you getting all that patch info - can I do it too? I guess somewhere on avaya.com, but when I did a search on patch on the site I got a ton of stuff to weed through...is there a better way?

You have the older CM5 patch (SP1), the one I posted is SP2 (newer), you also don't have any patch on your IA770, I would get your business partner to update your system.

This is what a properly patched CM5.0 S8300 system should look like, I also have the SES (SIP Enablement Server) patch loaded (Cm5 comes with SES licenses as well, on an S8300 platform only)

The Software Version Web page displays the software version of the active partition of this server.

Thanks!!! I have a g450 so Iwont need the SES patch, but we will let our BP know they need to repatch this. They are usually pretty good about doing them ahead of time, I dont know how the missed it...

Thanks for the links too!!!!

Have a great day :)

heathersuzanne, the SES comes with the S8300C AND CM5 (only if its a main server, not an LSP), it doesn't matter which media gateway you use... You are entitled to the SES server, if your main switch is a CM5 S8300... most Business Partners don't bother setting up the SES, its a real PITA, but it can be done, I just did one. To really use it, you will need some SIP licenses as well, but its an inexpensive way to try out some SIP phones, SIP trunks, etc. We have to keep moving forward :)
