I have an atlton xp 1800 and wondering can I upgrade my computer to a more faster xp processor...?

ROCKET69,

What motherborad do you have? Motherboard is the one that would tell you up to what CPU chip you would be able to update to.

Without the make/model of the motherboard? difficult to tell but:
Visit your motherboards manufactures website, armed with this information and do a simple CPU compatibility test to determine the maximum speed supported.

thanks guys.....
i'll check out my motherboard compatibility.....

For the most part, most mobos that support the XP1800 (thoroughbred version) can have firmware upgraded to support up to XP2400 t-bred. My mobo (ECS K7S5A v1.0) states that it can support up to XP2600. But from what I've read AMD T-bred CPUs with bus speeds of 266MHz only go up to XP2400. Therefore I believe this is the highest you can go.
