Hi,

I have a MSI KT4V motherboard with a Athlon 2000 XP. When I turn on the PC it shows the clock speed as 1250 mhz. If I change the FSB to 133 then it shows Athlon 2000 XP, but then blue screen of death.

It runs ok at 1250 but I would prefer the correct clock speed.

Faulty memory or
Damaged CPU (have you ever fitted the heatsink even for a few seconds, the wrong way around?) or
Memory and CPU settings too agressive (cas latencey set to 2?) to high for generic memory. or
Faulty motherboard.
Above in order of likelyhood. Martin Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.

Hi,

I've changed the memory and the bios settings are the default. So it must be faulty CPU.

Regards

Athlon XP 2000+ operates at a frequency of 1667
the FSB should be set to 133 and the multiplier
set to X12., or the FSB set to 266 and the mutiplier
set to X6, what ever the motherboard bios allow
you to set it manual to. The above information was
obtained from abeza
