Hi Binders,

Normally I can solve my problems within hours/days. But this little thing called BIND is making me crazy.

What I want in the end is my own DNS server internal & external. To experiment I would be happy when I get the internal stuff working fine.

Looks easy to me:
last line in named.conf says that I want to make my own zone(s) in namend.conf.local. So There I've put the boomy zone & the 10.in-addr.arpa reverse lookup file in there.

Next I've created 2 files called: db.boomy & db.10

I think this would be it, wouldn't it?
if it is, I must have made a mistake in the zone files I think.

I've tryed manny tips and trick from other users on tek-tips, but can't get to my problem.

Any help would be very appreciated

What OS are you running BIND on?

Í'm running Linux debian 2.4.27-2-386 and Bind Version: 9.2.4. All of the examples aren't writen for 9.2.4 (debian style) but I've tried to match the files to other directories.

My dir listing of bind:

debian:/etc/bind# ls
db.0 db.255 db.local named.conf.local zones.rfc1918
db.10 db.boomy db.root named.conf.options
db.127 db.empty named.conf rndc.key

With the db.boomy and db.10 (reverse of local lan) I'm trying to set up a new zone like debian.boomy or mail.boomy.

The db.boomy file:

;
; Zone file for boomy
;
; The full zone file
;
$TTL 3D
@ IN SOA ns.boomy. contact.boomy. (
2005102001 ; serial, todays date + todays serial #
8H ; refresh, seconds
2H ; retry, seconds
4W ; expire, seconds
1D ) ; minimum, seconds
;
NS ns ; Inet Address of name server
MX 10 mail.linux.bogus ; Primary Mail Exchanger
MX 20 mail.friend.bogus. ; Secondary Mail Exchanger
;
localhost A 127.0.0.x
ns A 10.0.0.x
mail A 10.0.0.x
gateway A 10.0.0.xxx
