Alternate recipient doesnt receive meeting requests!

Hi, we have a remote worker who has an Exchange Mailbox on our exchange 2000 server, and also a Contact set up for his own private email address. The Contact is set as the Forwarding Address for the Mailbox, so everything mailed to him at his exchange address also gets sent to his own private address. Everything, that is, except Meeting Requests. I have done some testing, and meeting requests can be forwarded to a forwarding address if it is another exchange mailbox, but they dont get forwarded to external Contacts, even though email does.

Is this a setting somewhere? Or is it a limitation?
