Yes, you can definitely do it yourself but you have to be careful because if you do miss anything or mess something up, it could spell disaster for you!!! All you need is that VAR sheet from your merchant provider and when you are closed, you can go into your EDC program check what settings are there and correct/change them to your new set up. Let me know if you would like more info.
When you are closed for business, you will want to open EDC and Stop POS Processing. This will allow you to choose the Configure -> Processors area. This is where you will see your current merchant provider configuration and choose to add a new one or just edit the one that is there. Once you add the new one, you will want to open that up and make sure you have all necessary info. There are some merchant providers that you will need a username and password for along with some use a specific URL or website address. Then it is just entering the new info. Once your new info is entered, you will need to go to Configure -> Cards and change what set up the credit cards look at. Then you should definitely test a couple cards to make sure all settings are correct.
That in a nutshell is how you change your own cc processor.
I know this thread is a few days old. However, for future searches; you need to settle the batch first before changing any information. I would also suggest you make a copy of the existing EDC folder, as a backup, in case anything goes wrong with your new setup.
