Hello Everybody,

Does anybody know if Aloha can be installed in Squirrel terminals?

Thank you very much,

Juan

Depends on the Squirel. If they are Windows terminals (XP, XP Embedded, WEPOS, POS Ready etc) then yes.

Aparently they are Linux based terminals.
Do you think Windows can be installed in them, though?

Thanks,

Juan

It should. You may want to make sure you have plenty a RAM. Radiant seems to like 512k of RAM but Aloha runs better with a Gig.

Make sure you can get Windows XP drivers for the terminal including the touchscreen, video, chipset, NIC... If you can, buy a new hard drive and XP for a few bucks and give it a whirl. If it doesn't work return the hard drive, tie a ribbon to the XP disk and us it as a Christmas ornament.

They usually use an embedded linux kernel, not a real hard drive or full installed version.

Cheers,
Coorsman

I've seen some of these systems in the past they look pretty old. I wonder if anyone knows how the files are stored on there. Do they encrypt the transactions or are they saved in a text format?

What version. Are you talking about sales on the server. The terminals don't have any information on them at all. Squirrel 1 is a SQL database. If they are older. Then the sales
Can be exported.

Cheers,
Coorsman

The system I am talking about is actually pretty new.
It's called Squirrel WS9L. It has a 160gb hard drive.
