Quick question...how can I allow users to send INTERNAL email only.

I have removed thier SMTP address so they cannot receive external mail, and removed thier address books so only the users are available, but they can still enter an email address manually.

How can I block thier ability to send external mail, but still allow them to send and receive internally?

I had to do the same about a year ago.

If I remember correctly, you have to go into the Internet Mail Service under Connections, and go into Delivery Restrictions. There is a section marked "Reject messages from" in which you add the list of users you don't want to be able to send mail outside.

Hopefully that should sort it out for you.

Better to add a DL into the Delivery Restrictions tab - that way you can control the population that is restricted much more easily - you could even devolve it to someone who isn't a system administrator (like an HR person) - make them the owner of the DL.

If you add a list of users to the Delivery Restrictions tab you have to stop and restart the IMS every time you update the list.

couldn't you stop the IMS service? or set the transfer mode on the connections tab on the IMS properties?
