my database has a ton of reports that I want any of my clients to use. they are getting a runtime version of Access XP, but they will want to give these reports to others who may not have Access.

i want to put a button on a form that will save the Snapshot Viewer program (I believe it's snpvw90.exe) to wherever the user browses to. (yeah, i could just put it on the CD and tell them to find it, but it's not too user friendly.)

questions:
1. What is the code to do this? I've hunted around in FAQ's/Help and have failed so far to find a DoCmd code.

2. If the client does not install the ap in the default directory, can this code still work?

3. (side not) Has anybody else noticed that Microsoft no longer has the snapshot viewer on their downloads site? I got it from somewhere else, but I'd like the most current version.

thanks for the help.

Hi,

The snapshot viewer program needs to be installed, it can't be just run from the CD. However, once it is installed, you should be able to open a snapshot by double clicking on the file, because it will be associated with the .SNP extension.

I just checked to see if I can get the snapshot viewer and agree that they have removed it - why?
I can't see any good reason for this with the 2000 version. I understand that they are stopping support for 97/98, so that is understandable, but to make this no longer available is most unprofessional of them. I wonder if they will stop the Word/Excel/Powerpoint viewers next?

Hey,

Try searching using Google for snapshot viewer it is around, but i have since formatted my hard drive and don't know where I got it, there is a Pro version at but as per usual it is not freeware, use it free for a while and then kaput!
Ithink Billy G. has had enough money out of us without charging for a ridiculous program like this.

To save the file as Snapshot...

DoCmd.OutputTo acReport, "ReportName", acFormatSNP, "Filenaem.snp", False, ""

False is whether you wish to view the file once it has saved.

As for the rest I dunno.

Just thought I'd give my two cents!

Cheers

Sam
