Hi

I have a database on a d drive that is 40 gig in size.
I have 120 gig spare on the drive.

When I try to import anything, an error message appears that the Primary Log is full.

How can this be if all the datafiles are on the D drive and I am setting the database to automatically to increase by 4gig with unlimited file growth.

I am using sql 7 with sp4

cheers

This is probably because the log files live on the same dirves as the datafiles..

You probably need to add a new segment to your log files.

IN EM.. right click your database
select Properties
select the "Transaction log" tab
Add an new log file on the drive that has some space...

Hope that helps

The Tran log file only gets up to the size of 10gig so I still have over 50 gig spare but it still says the primary group is full.

I can still add other datafiles but they do not auto grow even when this option is enabled.

Any Other ideas ???

cheers

It could be that the log file can't grow quickly enough to hold the extra transactions (bulk imports can create a lot of them!).

Try manually increasing the log file size before you do the import.
