Hi,

I got both version 4.11 and 5.01 (OS 9.2.2) on my Mac but I can't default all Quark files to 5 (All launched in 4, and get info shows they are 4.11 documents). I tried rebuild desktop, norton, techtoolpro, no used.

At last, I removed both versions of quark, restarted, rebuilt desktop. (There was no file association at this time) Copy Quark 5 back to the Apps folder, it works. But when Quark 4 was back, all Quark files defaults to 4.11 again.

what the hell is happening? Anyone know what the problem is???? thanks!

This is a mystery to me. I have both vers. 4.11 and 5 on my machine, and mine always defaults to 5, so that I have to launch v4 first if I need to use it. I don't recall ever having an earlier version default. Are they both named the same? (Though I don't think the Finder cares...) And are you on system 10 or earlier?

Go to versiontracker.com and search for a filetype association utility. This can tell your Mac what program should open the QXDs.

Doesn't work, Quark 4 and 5 use the same type creator...
Looks like it's a system problem...
confusing

Can you place a Quark 5 alias on your desktop and drag documents onto it instead of double-clicking on the document icon?
