This is my first go around with using aliases, so please excuse me if I ask a foolish question.

I created a universe, and was instructed to create aliases in order to resolve an incompatibility issue. I am now ready to create my query using BO, but the alias tables I created do not show up in "Query Panel" which leads me to believe that I am missing a step.

Could someone offer assistance as to what I need to do to get the alias tables and the objects within to be recognized by "Query Panel"? Is this something that needs to be done within Designer? Business Objects? Both?

Oh boy! You are at the beginning.

Tables do not show up in the query panel. Once you've built your alias in designer, you need to create objects from that alias (virtual table). When you create objects, then they will show up in the query panel.

You also need to build joins to the alias table.

Steve:

Is the creation of objects for the alias tables done in designer?

Do I create a class first and then place all the objects within it, or are the newly created objects placed within the existing classes?

Sorry for asking so many questions. I have not had any Designer training, and the Designer's Guide does not cover this procedure.

Thanks.

Yes, objects are created in Designer. Yes, you need to do what you are suggesting.

Actually, the designer guide does cover this.
