Can anyone please give me some guidance regarding the functionality of Alerts and using Lotus Domino and not Exchange. A link to some reading material would really be appreciated as I am unable to find anything decent. Many Thanks...

Did you get a chance to read the the Administtrators Guide? this is in the DOC folder on the install CD..
