I'm trying to find out information on setting up alarm monitoring on our Definity. I want to know (via email) when a trunk goes down or any other serious event. I know there are some features in the Site Administration tools, but when I tried it out it didn't seem to generate emails.

Any suggestions?

you can only set ASA to email you the active alarm report, if you want to be able to filter & only get what you want, you will need a third party solution such as alarmtraq, IRISnGEN & a few other i'm sure folks on here use.

You can setup ASA to "Monitor Trunks" every 5 minutes and have it email you if you'd like. It's on the Faults and Performace Tab in ASA or you can go to: System>Fault&Performance>Monitor Trunks...

Monitor Alarms and Monitor Trunks works great. Use a PC that will run 24/7/365.

Thanks everyone. I don't know what I was doing wrong before, but I just went back into ASA and set up a 5 minute interval on trunk alarms (the main thing I was looking for). I also set up a 1 hour interval on major and minor alarms. Tested it and it's sending emails. Now the next thing I need to do is disconnect a trunk and see what happens...fortunately I have a site that shouldn't really mind....I hope :)
