Aix on Intel 2

Can somebody tell if there is a non RS/6000 platform for AIX. And if there is where can I get a copy of it. Whats the story with AIX 5L does it work on Intel Platforms.

Nope - AIX is specific to RS/6000, as well as 5L. However, it seems to have Linux as a cousin.

AT this point AIX is for Rs6000 only...but the future??????The 5L is pushing to be
run on the intel titanium chip... etc etc....

Thanx for all the good help queen......
the problem is i dont have a rs m/c over here and i wanted to get hands on...so is there any simulator or emulator for aix

I don't know of any emulators....at one time IBM sold cds for intel that went through
system administration and other tasks with actual screen shots. Had the feel of being on a real machine............but I have
not seen them in awhile...doesn't mean they are not available. If they still were
available it woulbe be 800 IBM TEACH.... But find out the details before
purchasing..............

Somone at work had installed a demo version of an application that allowed virtual operating systems to run on their PC. They had Win 98, Linux, Win 2000 but not AIX. In fact the company said they did not support AIX at this time. I can find out the website for you if you are interested.
