Hi, I have a problem with an AIWS Basic server. I get the error message "Lost link to DECT" I have, together with the customer looked through the config, compared it to the inst. guide and we can not see any misconfig. I hope some of you have seen this error and can give me a tip what to do. If not I have to chech the entire network/infrastructure on location.. :S That is not something I'm looking forward to..

Thanks from Norway :)

Hi V!

I checked the only AIWS that I've implemented and it reports the same error.
I think it's just a warning that Master IPBS has been reset.

But, AIWS is a fickle bitch, so take the Master IPBS and AIWS into your lab, and get it up and running first.
AIWS is an ASCOM product (They call it Elise-2), and it seems to me that not a single soul at Avaya has the slightest clue about this box.

By the way, it says that only Basic+ and Std allows firmware upgrade OTA, and that max handsets pr AIWS Basic is 32. This is not true. Basic worsk just fine with 50 handsets and it sure upgrades OTA.

A thing that I haven't figuered out is replication of Company phonebook from IPO. I have to import from excel manually.

In short: Getting an AIWS running is not an easy task.

I have installed the same system as well.
It gave the same error but I was still able to update the handsets and languagefiles for dect.

I didn't get the telephone directory feature to work (the AIWS was sold for this purpose).
I ended up using the basestation firmware 3.3.11 from the 5.0.18 Admin CD.
Now the directory is a feature in the MasterBasestation, so no AIWS needed for that feature.
Update the handsets as well and you'll be able to use this directory as well.

When the Dect R4 came out I saw the AIWS as an unnecessary device that could have been omitted with some clever programmming elsewhere, either way we still use IP Dect :)

Escorthosis, no need to upgrade the phone for the directory use!
It works straight away but it does not harm to upgrade those phone's ofcourse :)

I think the AIWS is only interesting for the upgrade over air or the sms functionality.

@tlpeter:

SMS only to 3725 phones.
After upgrading my 3720 phones the middle button was activated as a 'contacts' button. That button was not present on the original firmware.
It's only for the personal contactslist though.
The centralised phonebook from the IPOffice takes some extra keypressing.

Is indeed a bit annoying.
I like the 3725 more, there you can program those three buttons just the way you like.

Updated to the new firmware and I got the "contact" button on the phone. Thats works fine :) But the main goal was to have the phonebook to work automaticly. I imported the phonebook myself so the customer is up and running, but it shouldn't be like this. I have send this issue to a DECT "guru" in Germany and waiing for his reply.. Thanks for all feedback and tips! :)

IF you update the basestations then you do not need the AIWS for the directory.
The basestation then uses tftp to pull it out of the ipoffice.

I know :) But still I want to find out why it does not work as it should. Lots of other features in AIWS that is nice so my customer wants it to work with all features. He did buy it 1 week ago hehe. But in the future I will try to keep away from AIWS.

@Escorthosis:

If you manually upload the phonebook to the AIWS and sync all phones, your middle key will also display company phonebook. (Those entries will be marked with a lock symbol, and can not be changed by user).

There is a excel file in the IP DECT directory (zip in admin) that convert the company phonebook into the format that the AIWS requires.
