AIM-VPN/BP card Encryption for Cisco 2600

I am new to setting up encryption for Cisco, is there anything special or any rules and or limitations that you have to follow when your setting up encryption between two modules/two routers over a WAN link. Also could anyone point me to some good documentation that supports this.
