Greetings!

Currently, our attendant pushes a button and the after-hours greeting takes place. The greeting directs callers to specific extensions for certain departments.

I'm now being asked if it's possible to have one of those department extensions be changed just for the weekend, but not during the week.

Is there a way to schedule the after-hours greeting to be different for different days?

Failing that, what would my best course of action be?

Sorry for the non-specific and sort of open-ended quetion. Unfortunately, I'm a lone tech guy for several sites, all with different systems, and since the phone systems are reliable and stable, they have the least amount of my time devoted to them, which means that I'm not as knowledgeable about them as I would like, and I have to re-learn them after every 8-10 months of not being involved with them.

Thanks!

Hi,

A bit of info is missing so I have to assume....

The button the attendant pushes is this the "night-serv" button?? When this button is pressed all calls are routed to a fixed extension on your pbx. You can find this back on the TRUNK screen (disp trunk x). You have an option "Night Service", first page on the right top.

This extension is probabely a VDN that has a vector.
I would (to keep it simple) start the vector with the following:

01 wait time 2 secs hearing ringback
03 goto step xx if time-of-day is Mon 00:00 to Fri 23:59
04 goto step yy if time-of-day is Sat 00:00 to Sun 23:59

xx : plays the week message
yy : plays the weekend message

I take the whole day as the calls will not hit this vector as long as the "night service" button is not pressed.

But this is only valid when you use Night Service, VDN and Vectoring.

The first step is to find how these are getting played. It could be an announcement or it could be an auto attendant through your voice messaging system.

Run this command. "li integ" This will give you all the announcements that are in you system. If you are lucky it will be labeled "night or out of hours greetings".

You can go through them by dialing the number on the announcement and listening to them until you find the one you want. The run this command. "li usa extensi xxxx"(this is the extension number of your announcement) It will come up with the vector using it and the step.

Post when you find it and we'll help you get through it.

Hey guys, thanks for the help and advice!

After I had time to study things a bit, I found out how things are set up (sort of, I'd love to spend a few weeks just learning what this system is capable of, I think we under-use it a great deal).

We've actually got no vectors going on at all, and no announcement module. Essentially, when the night-service button is pressed, it's just the Greeting that gets changed, with different menu options.

I ended up using time-of-day coverage, as the most simple direct way to do this:

-x3589 is the normal after-hours extension, which used to follow coverage path 2.
-Coverage now goes to path t1 (time of day) rather than path 2.
-T1 goes to path 2 at all times except from 4am to noon on Saturday, when it goes to coverage path 21.
-Coverage path 21 goes to coverage point r1 (remote)
-Point r1 is the 800 number that they wanted called during that timeframe.

Again, I appreciate your input, as it is going in my file for future use, when I can devote more of my time to learning and using this system. I think some awesome things can be done with it. The potential is there, I just have to unlock it...

Thanks again!

It sounds like you are in the right direction on learning your system. I would (and I have) download the CD library for your version of software. A ton of information in there. Look at Feature description and implementation. This gives you a lot of what your system can do and how to program it.

When is the last time you helped someone, just because you were able to?
