advice on network backup and then backup to tape

hi all

we currently backup our servers individually using their own tape drive and we wanted to move to a single tape drive backing up all servers so we bought a dell storage server and connected a LTO2 tape drive

should we use backup exec to remotely connect to all the partitions on every server and do a backup to disk and then either do a backup to tape or do we then remotely connect to the other server and backup to tape?

your help is appreciated
