Advice for a newbie plz

Hey guys ive never programmed in c++ yet but i was wondering if yous had any good advice for starting off. like where all the best sites for help and if there is any ebooks i can download and stuff. or if there is like a good stratergie to get me started and stuff. also is there any very very simple progs anyones made that are well commented? if so can they relpy and send the file attached?
 
I should start with one of thos "VC++ for dummies" books. They usually get you on the right track.....

Then just play around with making small programs; experience learns best.....

It's worth getting a book. It's typically easier to read, better-organized, more extensive, and more accessible than what you find on the internet. That, and sometimes they come with scaled down versions of some IDE.

The Deitels are my favorite authors. Earlier editions of their books won't put you in the poor house, either:
