This message is popping up when Excel is started on a Windows 2000 Pro client:

I've done a Windows Update to the latest service pack, but I still get this error.

Any ideas?

Possibly a damaged/corrupt/missing dll

Run System File Checker and extract a new copy.

There's also the possibility that this is a malware induced symptom, so be sure you've performed thorough and up to date scans with SpyBot, SpySweeper, and Bazooka, for example.

Start, Run, and on one line enter:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Excel.Exe" /regserver
(include the quotes and adapt to fit your path)
