Hi Guys

I am having problems using Advance Find on Outlook. I click on Tools > Advanced Find, then type in the search query.

The message reads "There are too many Find Public Folders dialogs open. You must close them now in order to use the Advanced Find. Do you want to close them now."

When I click on Yes, this message appears:

"Outlook cannot perform your search. Outlook cannot display this view. The folder already exists."

This fault occurs everytime.I have tried rebooting my pc, but the problem still persists. What can I do. I know it's something easy. Please assist.

Thanks in advance

Hi. Have you received any info on this question? I'm encountering the same problem. Thanks!

No I havent - I'm actually thinking of deleting the mailbox and reconfiguring

I've tried compacting the file and running scanpst. I've also tried the search using Outlook 2000 and Outlook 2003. This folder has quite a few sub folders. Does the one you are trying to open? The error message doesn't really tell you anything. You would think that if Microsoft created an error message, they would have some type of description on their web site. Silly me...

does it make any difference if you:

1. Use a different mailbox or PC
2. Use the browse function in advanced find to specify a folder lower down the tree
3. Put Outlook to the latest SR version (sorry, I dont know what version you are running).
4. Narrow your search criteria. Using a too common word may prduce too many results.

I cannot do a multi search on public folders (using browse button) so I guess that must be another feature of 5.5.

Good luck!

Worked by duplicating the mailbox on exchange. Backing up the items to a pst file.
Deleted the old mailbox then re-configured the new one.
And the feature now works fine.

Copied the folders to a new pst file. Works great now. Thanks for the assistance.
