I have a dsl connection coming in to my home. The dsl line will go into the modem then the ethernet connection on back of the modem will go straight to my hub and was able to share the connection with other pc's on my lan, but now im using a cisco 2924 switch and when i try to connect the modem ethernet port to the switch i get no activation lights at all. I try straight and crossover cable's but no luck. Is there something I need to enable on the switch to make it work. I got my hub to work by enabling mdix button which work fine, please help, thank you

You have to open the port on the switch, it is most likely administratively down.

I try no shutdown on the port still no luck. The modem works fine with my hub but not with the switch. I try changing the speed and duplex settings still no luck. Does anybody know anymore tips, thanks.

You've locked it to 10 1/2 ? You need a cross over cable if you had to press the button on the hub. Which makes sense as the modem is expecting a PC on the other end.. not a switch. When the cabling is correct, you will get the link lights.. thats the physical layer.. then you can worry about layer 2..
