With reference to my previouse message, do everyone who have an ADSL connection, & share it for multiple use, have an ethernet modem & router, or do some of you have the cheaper USB modems, then combined with software connection sharing, rather than the faster, albeit much more expensive hardware sharing method???

Basically, is it possible to have a single USB ADSL modem connected to one computer on a network, & then share this connection through a network without adding any more hardware???

In windows 98 you internet connection sharing. Read through the help section in windows (Start menue>Help)to learn more about it. It allows mutliple users to use one internet connection. The down draw is that you have to use the IP scheme that is basic and required for Internet Connection Sharing on Microsoft peer networks. Read through the help section or go to the MS website and search for it.

It looks like a yes then.... James Goodman

i use the hardware sharing method for my adsl connectino, it's faster, and much easier to maintain... and i don't have to worrie about a pc going down(windows does that often enuf for me not to want to use ics)... and i do have a pc as a web server running off of it wich i can turn into a proxy for my network should some thing happen to my router...
