Hi all,

I know this is not strictly a Cisco device (only a subsidiary!!) but has anyone set up a Linksys WPC54G Wireless ADSL Gateway in France?
I cannot get the **** thing to train with the ISP! ADSL settings are as follows:
ISP: Wanadoo
Encapsulation: PPPoA LLC
VPI: 8
VCI: 35
DSL Modulation: Multimode

Then there is a username and password option....
According to other sites, this should be fine. I have had the router working in the UK successfully so the hardware is not faulty....

Under the Status menu, the DSL Connection says Down and not Trained, it also says Interleave.

ANY help is most most appreciated

(PS - I am trying to set this up remotely!!! Nightmare!)

Have you tried setting it on fire?
Actually, I would try to have someone physically look at the router and look at link lights, etc. How are you setting it up remotely if the dsl is down?

I would be very sceptical about the VPI being 8, I think it could be a zero with its belt on too tight. CPE's usually have the same VC configured.

Also check if the ISP is using CHAP or PAP as I believe Linksys have the UK Routers set for PAP.

Yes, Please tell us how you are doing this remotely?

I am setting this up remotely by talking someone who can speak french and english and hasn`t got a clue about the technology through the settings over the phone. So I cant actually see what they can... as I said, nightmare!!

I like the suggestion of burning it but dont think it will solve the problem!

I found the VPI/VCI settings on various sites on the Internet but can certainly try 0. Authentication is set to CHAP but have also tried PAP.

Don`t know if this is relevant but I read that certain Cisco routers need to use their own power supply or DSL does not work... I discovered after my post that the woman i`m talking through the setup plugged the Linksys device in using the Livebox PSU! Something else to try I suppose

Thanks for your thoughts so far guys... appreciated

Jim
