Hi,
I'm running InDesign 2 at the moment about to upgrade to CS in the next couple of weeks.
My question is... in CS can you assign Function shortcut keys (F1, F2 etc) to Paragraph styles and charactor styles instead of the horrible cmd+Num1 etc?

Marcus

Hi MarcusStringer,

You can make your own set of keyboard shortcuts in CS, but also in version 2. Just go to the 'edit' menu and just above the preferences you will find 'keyboard Shortcuts. That's where you want to be

Marcus, in CS I'm afraid you're still limited to the horrible numbers. From the ID CS online documentation:

To add a shortcut keystroke, make sure Num Lock is turned on. Then hold down any combination of Shift, Alt, and Ctrl (Windows) or Shift, Option, and Command (Mac OS), and press a number on the numeric keypad. You cannot use letters or non-keypad numbers for defining style shortcuts.

Oh, Bugger, what a pain in the ....

I hope you guys are looking into that for the future because instead of a one hand one button (other hand on the mouse) it's a two hand step.

Thanks Tim

Marcus

Hi Marcus,

I agree, and I'll look into our plans with the text team.
