On the server there is a pictures folder (E:/pictures/2005/subfolders) that a user was cleaning up. She ran into a file or folder (she can't remember which) that she could not delete, so she exited out of the "2005" folder to the "pictures" folder and deleted the entire 2005 folder....or so she thinks. However, the 2005 folder is still there. IT is now no longer accessible by any user (including her) or by any Domain Admins, or even the server Administrator account. It keeps giving a permission denied error.
So far, from a command prompt, have tried RECOVER, REMDIR, DEL, ERASE, entering the folder, verified the folder wasn't in a held open state by the user with the OPENFILES command, and tried almost every switch I could to force the folder to delete. It will not delete or be accessed.
When I access the folder through the Windows Explorer, right click only allows me to "uncheck" the "READ ONLY" properties. There is no Sharing or Security tabs to adjust permissions. The folder is empty, with 0 bytes, 0 files and 0 folders.
How do I remove this folder, and how do I prevent this from happening again? Thanks in advance.
