I unlock Admin, and then 30 secs or less later its locked again. I've reset the password, no luck. What else can I do? Sometimes, almost all the user accounts get locked out for no reason. We just recently switched from a dedicated 56K line to T1 and have updated all of our DNS records because our outside IP addresses changed. Could this be a DNS issue?

Do you happen to have a service or a sched job running that logs on as the administrator. It coulde be possible that it has the incorrect password that is causing you problems.

Unplugged router, reset admin password, all was fine for 5 minutes. Plugged router back in, admin account locked out instantly. Any ideas?

Sounds to me like you have a VPN session that is trying to connect automatically and is providing an old password. Or possibly you have a machine logged in somewhere that uses the admin account and it is logged in with an old password.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

Hi,

Any chance you the admin account might be getting attacked from outside?

What firewalling is in place?
Are you running AV?

Remember- It's nice to be important,
but it's important to be nice :)

Putting a firewall in place today. Should take care of the problem.
